    Questions regarding components for build

The rating is not a gimmick by any means. It's a scientific curve regarding it's effeciency. The power saving difference between bronze and gold can be used as a marketing gimmick, sure. As you can see on the charts: For me (EU) the difference between bronze and gold is about 4%. That's not a...

    Questions regarding components for build

I still have a bunch of Samsung HD320HJ's lying around. Old disks from like 2008. I've also had a disk die after few months. Run a disk check if you're unsure, usually referred to S.M.A.R.T. check. As for the PSU, personally I would buy the 620W, even though the 520W is enough. Ideally, you...

    Questions regarding components for build

Looks like a good value PC. 1: RAM works different for Ryzen CPUs. Faster RAM is good, because the CPU is built by two modules that talk together tied by RAM speed/timings. Usually RAM speed doesn't matter. 2. The Aero from MSI is bad because it uses reference design, or blower-style cooler...

Why does FireFox go to Server Not Found on first try?

http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/how-to-change-your-dns-windows-10 It's quite easy, and should take effect right away.

Why does FireFox go to Server Not Found on first try?

I would try changing your DNS. Either that, or the fact that you have two ad blockers installed at the same time. 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 is the Google DNS if you want to join the botnet :D It's fast though.

What should I do with these BIOS settings: Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), Compatability Supp

Just set it to Windows UEFI Mode if you're using Windows only. If you want to dual boot with Linux or something, you need "Other OS".

What should I do with these BIOS settings: Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), Compatability Supp

CSM is literally "Compatibility Support Module", which gives support for Legacy-only devices or operating systems when using UEFI. SGX is a sort of DRM for applications. It's used to protect code from being altered, but it's very advanced and primarily used by developers. Again, unless you...

What should I do with these BIOS settings: Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), Compatability Supp

Honestly UEFI is trash and shouldn't be used. Doesn't make booting faster, as you say, only adds additional layers of nonsense. Booting with UEFI only makes sense if you lock your BIOS with a password. Legacy OPRom and "Other OS" is the way to go :) Are you absolutely sure you need UEFI/Secure...

    Power Outage

My friend had an issue with monitors not turning on, but PC functioning fine via Teamviewer. Told him to unplug the power and hold the power button for 15+ seconds. He literally called me a wizard :)

    Upgrading to 4.4GHz

Did you buy an FX-9370 (220W) for a board that barely supports 125W CPUs? These chips were, for a while, only sold together with high end motherboards and liquid cooling.

    Imaging software removes product key.

It's been a while. You need to find your Unattend.xml and somehow make it stop doing a Rearm during Sysprep. Rearm resets activation, and is a core part of sysprep. You can skip it though, so if you activate in Audit Mode and do a generalize sysprep w/o Rearm, you should be fine.

    Cloning or Imaging Windows 7

    1. Just about none. Cloning is a direct exact copy, imaging is saving a copy. 2. Microsoft is giving you a limited, locked down version of Windows that lasts for three days, untill you enter the only part of the OS that costs money - the key. Giving you an incentive to buy it, if you don't have...

    Cloning or Imaging Windows 7

Although I'm not sure there's fully functional trials, Symantec Ghost and Acronis True Image are by far the best imaging softwares I've ever used. @MisterEd Might be a bit tedious, but the Ultimate version allows for changing the display language of Windows. Pro and below can only change...

    Ryzen 5 1500X Estimated Benchmarks?

I've read that it should be better, maybe only at launch. The way the modules are made, the 8 core chips have an issue with communication, which shouldn't be a problem with the single module chips. Should be fixed eventually though.

HP EliteBook 840 G3 turns on and off repeatedly! (VIDEO)

The power LED is blinking the error code on HP laptops. You should notice a pattern and look it up on their site. Could only see it briefly from the video. Example: Three short blinks and a pause, repeat = RAM issue Edit: watched it one more time. The other buttons are blinking with it, could be...

    failed to configure windows

If you haven't reinstalled your computer yet, boot it to Safe Mode (Reboot -> Spam F8, choose Safe Mode with no network) Once in, delete all the content of "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution". Open run (Start-R) and type "cleanmgr.exe". Mark all checkboxes and reboot.

    Hey, Chrome users...........

I think he's aware that CCleaner would reset it. Saying it happens every time now. I know there's a setting in Chrome to not save any cookies/history when it's being closed - maybe that's checked?

    Windows 10

With the recent leaks of ads in the file manager, I'm not having good hopes. Even if it's just for M$ products, such as OneDrive etc. Get that sheet away from me. I paid for this.. :) Edit: Just saw these: This guy was part of developing the kernel for Windows 8.1, the actual good part :)

    AMD CPU/Socket Discussion Thread

Glad to read I'm not the only one having issues :D 2x16GB 2400MHz Corsair LPX + ASUS Hero. OCCT 4.5 gives me memory errors, but doesn't crash the system. Memtest ran for 48+ hrs gives me no errors. Running CAS16/1.2v. My CPU voltage is everywhere, from 0.5 to 1.55, regardless if I use Auto...

AMD Turbo Core - where to download?

If you really need to enter the BIOS, just unplug all bootable devices. Ususally jumps right in to BIOS, or comes with no bootable disk error.
