    Rewire headphone socket?

Yes, that's what I thought...the sound comes from the primary audio i/o device, through the mobo and to the front ports, regarless of what sound card you have. Thanks, johnny

    Gateway,GOOD OR BAD?

For viruses, I like Norton Antivirus Internet Security Suite. For spyware, try SpySweeper. Run it once, and it gets 99%. Run it again and it wipes everything off that's spyware. Only takes a few minutes to run, too./

    Problem not connect

My brain hurts from trying to read this guy's posts. I know he doesn't speak English as a primary language, but damn. "Hello, I need your help. Why won't my printer connect to my computer? My printer is called "Cannon:MultiPASS F80". I tried replacing the cable, but that didn't work, and...

What sound card do you have?

I like my 4.1 speakers, so I went and got an elcheapo $15 no name card. Works fine and my Creative 4.1's (I bought them for $60 at WalMart two years ago) make my ears bleed. Ya can hear em two floors away, clearly.

    5.1 on my laptop help

Go to CompUSA or BestBuy for instant gratification, or try newegg for better pricing but you have to wait. You're looking for a 5.1 capable SoundBlaster PCMCIA card to slide into the slot on the side of your lappy.

    Rewire headphone socket?

I'm not sure, but won't it work without resoldering it? Doesn't the sound come through the motherboad to those ports anyway? I don't know but I thought that was the case.

    What is Litescribe?

Yeah, that's essentially what it is, a small, low powered laswer that inscribes a label onto your disc. not worth it though. It's monochrome only, so all your discs have that sepia tone to them. also, you have to use Lightscribe discs for the laser to work. It's alot easier to just get a...

Thinking about building a multi tasking computer.

Hehe! Of course. Tis my nature. Gotta get my hits in where I can. But to stay on topic, if the gaming is low-powered stuff like solitaire or other weak little apps like that, Praetor's correct...Intel might be a better choice (if the price is right, obviously). But I still say AMD pwns...

Thinking about building a multi tasking computer.

Not gonna say anything, hehe. :P I think I am a little biased since I don't really play with anything but tomorrow's technology anymore (see sig). Then again, I had that good ol Sempron for a while, and on a 5500 geForce, it was nice and happy with both Norton and Spysweeper in the...

Thinking about building a multi tasking computer.

lol. No, Praetor, you smell someone who has seen the gaming benchmarks, all of which favor AMD (except Halo....but Halo is a memory-eating bastard). I relied heavily on Intel chipsets for several years, but I was always using Word, Outlook, just Office in general, and IE. When I started...

    extremely high explorer.exe usage

Sucks. Looks like a memory leak somewhere. Try going through the Add/Remove Programs wizard and remove Inthernet Explorer from your windows Components, then reinstall it. Or, be smart/lazy all at once and go get Firefox.

    Revs way up...?

Funny whirring noises that are very prevalent for a moment or two, then dissapear, are nothing to worry about. Think of that sound as your computer's way of farting or burping: it happens every so often, and it's nto a problem, just that the noise (or, for humans, smell!) can be annoying for a...

    Wasted HDD Space

Actually, since noone here seems to know the REAL answer, I will give it to you. When most HDD's ship, they are rated for GB = 1,000MB. However, Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, consider 1,024MB to be 1GB. Hence, you basically get raped for your lunchmoney with that last 24MB. Unless...

Thinking about building a multi tasking computer.

For general multitasking between office applications/IE/things of that nature, Intel does exceed, however, read his post, would you? They are the first two things on his list. Hence, I would assume they are the most important on his list of priorities. So I will reitterate. AMD. Not...

Thinking about building a multi tasking computer.

Only thing I can say is DO NOT GET INTEL. WHen it comes to multitasking with video and graphical applications, Intel chips choke like none other.

    Little Icons

Click Start>Run, and type in msconfig. Click the "Startup" tab. Click "Uncheck All". Click Ok. Restart. That will get rid of all of them. Or, uncheck the ones that you recognize that you don't need (yahoo, AIM, etc.)

Some help please before I just go and buy a Dell....

Dude. Pretty much any computer you buy (even at a store like CompUSA or BestBuy) for about $800 will kick the crap out of your current machine. CompUSA currently has a dual core AMD 64 x2 HP Media Center for about $900, or a PentiumD for about a grand, methinks. Just use the same old monitor...
