Advice on Last Gaming Build EVER

You do you man... if you're dead set on grabbing a 14900K, I'm not stopping you. I wouldn't touch a 14900K with a 10 feet pole for multiple reasons. I definitely wouldn't get that over a 9800X3D.

Advice on Last Gaming Build EVER

Contrary to my username, I would suggest you get an AMD Ryzen 9800X3D. The extra cache it has does wonders for games that are CPU intensive. I can't really recommend the 14th or 13th gen Intel CPU's with their whole microcode issue that were killing CPU's. That problem should be fixed by now...

Best Free Always On Remote Access?

Windows RDP would work too, but it's a bit of a pain to setup/work the way you want it to iirc. +1 on Google Remote Desktop tho. Smoothest remote access experience I've used so far.

Task Manager in Windows 10 displays wrong memory speed...

That's not how DDR works. DDR is able to transmit data through both the positive and negative peaks of the signal, hence it can deliver data twice per clock. Hence "double" data rate, because prior to that, SDR was able to only transmit one set of data per clock. You can spin it like that, but...

    Computer for Architect

The fundamental difference between Geforce and Quadro is the drivers that Nvidia ship it with. You'll get performance gains using Quadro because Nvidia locks those features behind the Quadro drivers. It costs more because they charge products for "business use" more. I don't use Revit much at...

need parts to rebuild this. advice appreciated.

Looks like you just need a ssd (m.2 gen3 nvme is probably preferred, but you might be missing the screw to secure that drive on the first m.2 slot) and a GPU of your choice.... I guess a copy of windows 11 too. Looks like the original owner had a 12VHPWR gpu card in there at some point with...

    Any advantage to W1124H2?

24H2 introduces a few new features/bug fixes, but the biggest one would be Wifi 7 support. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/inside-this-update-93c5c27c-f96e-43c2-a08e-5812d92f220d#windowsupdate=26100 It also completely deprecates WMR and bricks those devices if you use any of the...

Upgrade Options From Ryzen 1700/GTX 1080 Build

Oh absolutely it would be pulling more power than the 1080. Power draw on these new cards are wild.

Upgrade Options From Ryzen 1700/GTX 1080 Build

Yeah let it run in for a bit, but I'm still skeptical the GPU would fix the problem if it's happening with another one, albeit it happened less frequently. Hopefully the CPU reseating fixes your issue, but if it doesn't, that mobo needs to go next.

Upgrade Options From Ryzen 1700/GTX 1080 Build

Well you're narrowing down the issue. Have you tried running memtest overnight? If that passes, I'd probably point fingers at the mobo.

hey guys i wanna add more memory to my desktop

DCS is very update dependent on the performance but generally speaking, you need some pretty high end gear to have a good experience. Depending on what you want to do in DCS, you could be looking at something along the lines of an X3D cpu from AMD, 32GB of RAM (64GB if you plan on playing in...

    Making corded peripherals wireless?

Headphones, technically yes. There are bluetooth dongles for those but I wouldn't recommend them. Too much latency. As for joysticks... not really, no. Wireless USB was a thing many years ago, but it never caught on for many reasons.

AMD CPU to pair with RTX 4070 Super?

I wouldn't buy a 5700X3D now if you weren't already in that platform and can upgrade to an X3D chip. Nothing wrong with the 7800X3D, especially with discounts for it since the 9800X3D just came out. Up to you really, between those two. If the 9800X3D isn't sold out, personally I would go for...

Recommendations for an i7 board and tower case

It's a deceptive thing to quantify because Windows would manage ram usage differently when there's more available. So when you've only got 16gb of ram, its algorithm will dump more things off of ram earlier when its deemed unnecessarily to hold it. Currently with my use case and using Chrome...

Upgrade Options From Ryzen 1700/GTX 1080 Build

One last question before going down the rabbit hole of RMA'ing expensive parts in the system, have you looked at running your DDR5 memory at jedec speeds? (I believe it's 4800? for DDR5) Do you still have your 1080 to throw in there to stress test? I have my doubts its the mobo/cpu unless...
