    JTM's i5 Build Preview

From what I've read the 6870 performs a little lower than the 5870 stock. I'm most likely not going to Crossfire in the near future so I think the 5870 would be a better fit. I have heard that the 6870's Crossfire really well though.

    JTM's i5 Build Preview

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could go over my build and recommend any changes. The build is primarily going to be used for gaming and virtualization. I already have a case(Antec 1200), PSU(750w PC Power Cooling) and HDD. Mobo: GPU: CPU: RAM: Thanks for looking! My target budget for...

    network administrator vs system administrator

That would be fine and dandy if that was your only job. However, someone who works in a network department deals with far more issues than that.

    Cables

It all depends, OEM items most likely will not. The item description should tell you whether or not they are included.

    network administrator vs system administrator

That seems like an incorrect statement. If you're working for a tiny company, then yes networking would be easier. However, most companies (200+ Client PC's) have huge networks. Such an example are retail stores, big or small. Sure their headquarters may have 200 client PC's, but the whole...

    is this a good laptop?

I wouldn't recommend that PC. I would skim sites like Slickdeals.net, dealnews.com, to find a real good deal for price point and performance.

Need a laptop for business school!

There is a big difference in quality going from a Dell to a IBM. The build quality is far superior on the IBM.

Need a laptop for business school!

That's why you buy the 6-cell. I have never had any issues with an IBM, nor do I know anyone who has.

Need a laptop for business school!

If you're looking for a true business class computer I'd go with IBM/Lenovo. You're gonna get a nice looking laptop that is powerful, durable, and all around perfect for most applications for a business student.

    Good Games For Bad Computer

For the laptop I would check out games like Diablo, StarCraft (originals), Pop Cap games like Plants vs. Zombies and so forth. For the Wii I would recommend the new Super Mario Galaxies or Metroid Prime!

What happens if you break a part from newegg?

It's like everything you purchase, if you break it, it's yours. Why should Newegg or any company take the hit for that?

    Dell vs. iMac

If the OP is using the PC for video/photo editing, I would go with the iMac. The LED screen will make things more enjoyable. And the 4850 can play most games out there nicely.

I advice going to the manufacturer's website and finding them there. Search by the brand and model.

    Cooling Problem?

Sorry about the confusion. Here's my way of putting on the thermal paste. Put a small bead of paste on the CPU itself. Take a credit card type squeegee and spread it evenly on the chip. When finished there should be a thin layer of paste, not chunky or choppy.

    Cooling Problem?

When you put on that heatsink did you apply your aftermarket thermal paste or did the heatsink have a patch of paste already on it?

Re-connect the laptop to the wireless internet, these things happen once in a while. If this issue continues, update your NIC drivers.

Hooking up router turns off my cable tv!

So I just re-read this again, and it seems like the new surge protector acts as a switch? So you're bypassing the router when you set this up with the new surge protector?

Hooking up router turns off my cable tv!

Sorry, I missed that part, it was late  I would see if you could get your cable company to come out and troubleshoot.
