    i7-4770K, EVGA 780 Build

Thank you for reminding me about Amazon. I don't know how I forgot to look there. Found a few of the components I want for cheaper. :D

    i7-4770K, EVGA 780 Build

Hmm, looks like it's marked down from $99 right now (at least on Newegg). I'll have to keep an eye on that one. If it's about the same price when I pull the trigger and buy everything, I might just go with that one. Thanks for the tip! Ha ha, yep, I'm going with the HAF-X because it's a beast...

    i7-4770K, EVGA 780 Build

I'm going to use the Samsung (under "SSD") as my main one and then use the two extra drives from my current rig as the data drives.

    i7-4770K, EVGA 780 Build

(Oof, been a loooong time since I've been on here.) Hey all, I'll have a little extra money in a few months, and my computer is 4+ years old (but the 5970 is still rockin'!), so I am planning a new build. Here's what I've got: CPU: Intel i-7 4770K GPU: EVGA GTX780 Motherboard: Asus...

    Duel monitors.

Oh I could totally imagine how annoying it would be to play a FPS game or any game where you use the mouse if it didn't lock  Luckily I play Dirt 2 with a controller :P

    Duel monitors.

Every now and then though you get a game that doesn't do that, like (if I remember correctly) Dirt 2. But yeah, the game locks your cursor in the monitor the game is on.

Need advice/help with a desktop build

Never said I wouldn't work, just something to consider if they have any money left over since it is a better psu. Ha ha, not quite back in form yet... Not even sure what the 2600/2500k processors are >.<

Need advice/help with a desktop build

Been a while but I am still certain that this psu is better than the one you linked. Maybe look at this hard drive. I agree that 4GB of RAM is enough, but depending on the motherboard, you might want to get 6GB of RAM and have them in tri-channel. Maybe these or these, depending on the...

    The Crysis Iron Man Challenge

I don't know, I guess I am not an insane Crysis fanatic like you seem to be :P but I certainly thought the game was fun. Although it did not have nearly the same feel that Crysis 1 did. They certainly did change a ton! I mean, just look at those visuals.... *Homer gurgle sound*

GPU stuck in 8x and not 16x? Physx on ATI card?

As long as the first one is in the first slot and the second one is in the second slot down from the top, you should be fine. And, as Linkin said, you wouldn't notice and real difference even if the second one was actually operating at 8x. As stated above, talking about Physx hacking isn't...

Need some advice on a dilema

do you mean you would build if you went with a desktop? to be honest i really have no clue how noticeable power consumption would be. i could list off numbers for how much power each would consume but since i have never actually paid bills before, i would not be able to tell you if you'd notice...

Need some advice on a dilema

kinda depends on what you plan on physically doing with it. if you want to be able to take it to school/work (or both) then i would get a laptop. they have some great ones out there now that can play somewhat newer games at good settings and should be able to handle all of the tasks you listed...

What's all the hype about Ubuntu?

it. is. free. but really, this is one of the biggest and best things about ubuntu. it is completely free and (knock on wood) always will be. which is REALLY nice if you are in a bind and need an os. or just if you are the average user who needs an os and doesn't want to spend $150 on the basic...

    My New Build :)

Here is the link for some ram I would suggest: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231278&cm_re=ripjaws_1600-_-20-231-278-_-Product Newegg doesn't even carry the c2 anymore do they?

    My New Build :)

What is your overall budget? I would go the phenom ii 955. Same cpu as the 965 but cheaper and a slightly lower clock (which a tiny overclock can remedy). I would also suggest going with 1600 ram instead of 1333. I would also suggest getting a different psu. 6870s in crossfire won't need an...

    BSOD During Windows Setup

How long does it sit there? I have had times in the past where it sat there literally for about 5-10 minutes and then finally moved on. I would maybe try getting to there, selecting the language, and when it sits there, go get some lunch, and check it again. That and I would definitely try...
