Completly agree, 7 is like Xp's older better brother =) (Vista was his younger, slower... brother xD)

I am getting that exact same CPU. I looked through a few, and I didn't see any problems with this one.

Well first to see if it is the OS that is making it shut off, boot from a bootable Linux CD. If it shuts off then it is the Hardware. Chances are it is a faulty power supply.

I am running Win 7 64 bit and I use VLC player. I think it should have all the codec you need.
edit: I researched and it said tha VLC plays HD DVD's so it should work for your HD stuff
You mean Spyware? Tech yes since it is coming off of a server, but no since it does not replicate, unless it is in email. Generally spyware is like a mini version of a virus. That is how I look at it anyways.
