I have decided to upgrade my desktop computer!

I am planning to upgrade my computer to the max. My FSB is 266. I assume these two cpu's are the best(If not tell me!): 1.4GHz Athlon tb or 1.8GHz Duron

I currently have the 1.4ghz. Is it werth to buy a 1.8GHz Duron? I have researched a bit, and the 1.4ghz tb is equal to the P4 1.7ghz.

So i am not too sure about this.

Assuming you're going with the KT7A still, I have read it's possible to stick an XP1600 in it, which is probably the fastest processor that'd work in it. However, I don't know for sure as the officially highest supported processor for that board is the Athlon 1.4GHz. Eh, at least for the Athlons.

Durons are good processors, but I'd probably still go for the Athlon 1.4 or Athlon XP as I mentioned. I suspect it'd be the fastest

Yes i am sticking with the KT7A :) So it's possible for an XP 1600 cpu to go in the KT7A? Awesome!

I know the 1.4ghz tb vs XP1600 isn't a big difference (I assume) But is it werth to upgrade to a 1600?

I really don't know much about the upgrade, I just recall hearing people mentioning it. Search around, you might find some old archived threads about it...

nahh, stick with the TB
not worth spending money on when you've got a core duo lappy.
thats a good lappy. besides the grafix card. integrated isn't too good... but if you arent gaming a whole lot then its fine.
i mean if you stay plugged in then youve got a better computer right there...
plus, in my opinion its a pretty good setup for holding files and stuff anyways...
i might even buy something like it soon... just an older comp with a huge hdd and a lan card as a server...
maybe not quite that old... SATA would be useful...

Another thought, if you do spend the money... I have no clue if this would work or not, but there are some SocketA Semprons around... I don't know how much of an upgrade that'd be, if any, but it's a thought.
