Hey, im new hear and just registered. Hopefully this forum would help me out a bit. Ill try to answer alot of other peoples questions.

Heres my question

i got a intel micro atx crappy mobo came out of a dell dimension 4700, 512mb ddr2 pc2 3200, p4 2.8 ghz, BFG nvidia 7900 gs oc, in a nzxt lexa case with rosewill 550 watt power supply. Im a average gamer.

i just bought a asus p5n 3-sli mobo, 2gb ddr2 800, pentium d 2.8 going to oc to 3.2.

Im wondering if it will make a big difference in half life2, fear, and counter strike, also im running vista home premium?

i think it is but i want to hear more peoples opinions on the upgrades and wat i should get.

Welcome m8y,

also to your motherboard upgrade im not to sure, you may gain some preformance from the components that are in the new motherboard e.g. CPU,RAM,GPU.

Best thing to do is bench mark the system as it is, PCmark05 or 3Dmark06... swap the mobo with the new one and run the apps again.

(If your swapping the motherboard its probably best to do a fresh install of OS and drivers).

It will make a significant difference! The big thing will be going from 512MB of RAM to 2GB, as well as getting a faster dual-core.

lol miss read the post... just thought is was mobo upgrade. Either way it will not hurt to do bench marks to see the results of the upgrade.
