1 yearold Dell comp LAGS

I have a 1 year old Dell comp I purchased from the company and it runs like CRAP ! I'm only using 3% of my harddrive and the computer still lags and takes a long time to do pretty much anything. Ive used virus and spyware programs on it but it still lags. Could it just be defective ???
 
How about you tell us a few things about the computer besides its age.
 
yah model number would help, specs, and what OS you are running it on. also where does it "lag"? boot-up, opening programs, internet, playing games, shutting down, saving files, all of these? chances are it's something like spyware or a virus, but if its just laggy in games or saving files it could be as simple as u need more RAM, or maybe your video card needs updating. hard to tell if it's just "laggy".
