I have an old Dell Dimension XPS T550 running Debian GNU/Linux 3.1, and the NIC, which used to run fine at 100Mbps, suddenly decided it wants to be at 10Mbps. Right at power on, the little "10" light on my Netgear switch turns on, and stays there. It seems to be running at 10base-T, half duplex. It's a Realtek Semiconductor nic - lspci returns this about it: Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
