100% cpu usage - very slow computer

I recently cleaned out my computer which was infected with various infections. It worked excellent for a few days.

On shutdown last night it stalled out and I had to turn it off manually. Now it runs extremely slow. Not just annoying slow but thirty minute start up slow. It then takes over an hour to boot all programs - antivirus and others in the quick launch bar. Forget about opening a program.

When I open task manager I have 100% CPU usage. Task manager itself claims to be using 75-80.

Any ideas? Could this be a hardware problem?

Have you tried booting to safe mode and see if the same thing happens? Start by running malwarebytes and hijackthis again and posting logs.

I booted in safe mode, but same thing. Extremely long wait times. Still 100% CPU usage.

I tried to run scan but it would not start. It showed up in the application tab on Task Manager but stated it was not responding.

I will try again and try HT. I will post if I can get it to start.

A quick scan should take less than 10 minutes. I don't see anything going on in your hijackthis log. I would say you have a hard drive issue. I would download the disk diagnostic utility for the brand of hard drive it is and scan it. It may or may not find issues.
