$1000 Gaming Rig

Hey there everyone. New to this forum but not to computers.

I am currently rocking a Dell XPS 1530 laptop for my day to day, but it has been showing it's age lately playing some newer games. I also use it frequently for graphic design work, and it's doing fine at that. I don't do any video editing so it's all good.

I have been wanting to build a gaming desktop for some time now, and thanks to my summer job am finally making enough money to afford one.

The rig should be no more than $1000 if possible. Don't worry about including a monitor, operating system, mouse or keyboard. These are all things I already have or will be acquiring later. I live in the US so Newegg is a fine website to use.

Trying to use FFXIV as my target game, since the graphic requirements are set so high.

Thanks!

I was actually thinking about going with the Phenom II x4 Black edition over the i7 for cost. It's $130 cheaper and still does fairly well. Even the i5-750 is cheaper and the only difference between that and the i7 is hyperthreading. I hear the i5 overclocks better too.

I know most would go for an Core i5 but right now I would like to stick to AMD now since it will be more future proof since the AM3 will also support bulldozer so now it would be better to go for AMD now but If you want to go for i5 750 then you will have to degrade the GPU to 5850

Looks like a good build! I might tweak it a little, but overall it looks really good.

I agree about the AMD vs Intel. Right now AMD is the safe bet. Now I just need to acquire the rest of my funds to build this.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, be sure to post them here!
