120 mm is better then 80mm. Right?

i took the 120 mm case fan of the m9 im gonna return to fries so now i will have 4 x120 mm fans and 4 spots to put them. I also have a couple 80mm lying around.

the point of this thread is that i want to ask u guys something:

is a 120mm better than an 80mm? I say yes, because the fan would be biggr meaning it can move more air at a slower RPM. is this right?

Yeah, it's generally better and doesn't make as much noise!

Yes, the larger the fan the more air that can be moved at the same RPM.

80MM fans do not move much air at all. The 120MM should be better.

That's cause they're running faster. 120mm fans should be quieter than 80mm fans if they are moving the same amount of air.

The 120mm fans would be more efficient at keeping the case cool, but mine tend to be marginally louder than the 80mm fans (which don't do much). However, in normal working conditions (eg when the CPU is not at 100%!) the fans noise output is not actually that noticeable. It's just a slight hum in the background.

Well, my fans aren't to be heard unless the CPU temp goes up and I have set the Mb to boost it to 100% after 35C and the 8800GTX's fan is louder than all of them including the one on my PSU. And the silent fans still move 90CFM...
