128 Gigs free of 585Gigs? WTF?Error?

I'm currently using around 100-200Gigs of memory on my hard drive.. yet it says I'm using 456Gigs. I know I haven't gotten 200 gigs of stuff since last week. What could be the Problem?
 
do you have another os installed? At my tech school we installed win xp then after win server 2003 and once we went back to xp it said each drive only had 500mbs of space Completely...had to reformat it!
 
If it's vista, then maybe it uses space for its own use, or for shadow copies of deleted files (to easily recover deleted data).
It happened to me when I get like 15GB free out of 250GB total, and when I boot to Windows XP, then back to Vista then it shows about 80GB free.... ... enough said........ vista's hog.
 
Disable System Restore, Uses 10% of Disk space.
Clear out your Hybernation Store
Remove Temporary Files Using CCleaner
Delete Previous Installed Windows from Disk Cleanup
