128mb vs 256mb

Hey if you had two video cards exactly the same except 1 was 128mb and the other was 256mb how much differance would you notice when playing games?

It also depends on the graphics chip and some other components on the card, but in a lot of cases, yes the 256 would be better. Are you looking at two cards in particular?

I found a geforce 6600gt with 128mb It was really cheap but I'm not sure wether it would be worth getting or spend the extra 40 or so dollars and get the 256mb. Also I found an ATI X1600 128mb for $110 I though that was a good price but once again I though the 256mb would be better even though its more expensive

For an extra $40--I'd get double the ram. You can never have too much ram. I wish I had my mobo maxed out. It will take 4gb and I only have 2gb on it. But, 1gb sticks are so expensive. More than twice the price of a 512mb stick--most of the time.

don't spend 40bucks for extra memory.
by the way 128MB geforce 6800 is cheaper and better than 256MB 6600gt

depends on the quality settings. you could have a 9800pro 128 and a a 9800pro 256, and they probably wouldn't perform much differently. basically it depends on the bandwidth of the ram, if the ram isn't fast enough then it cant even communicate the full 256mb within a certain amount of time, so theres no real point in having a full 256mb.
