$1500 Build- For CAD

Hey everyone,

I am looking to build a computer for 75% web browsing, internet, watching video, 5% video editing, and 20% CAD w/ rendering. I don't play many games, the last one I did and occasionally play is Sims 3. I would like to assemble a solid build for $1500 with everything including:

OS
SSD (enough for OS, solidworks, Adobe Suite and whatever else fits)
~500gb HD for all other files
2 Monitors
Professional graphics card
wireless keyboard/mouse
wifi adapter
and all the main components

Im pretty open to everything. I have been looking into the new Intel processors, so I think it will be worth waiting until they come out. I also like for the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139009 unless its overkill. Please recommend some good builds for my budget. Feel free to ask additional questions.

Thanks!

Good build. Don't worry about professioal GPUs until you get up to $2500, as any nVidia GeForce or AMD Radeon GPU under $500 compared to a Quadro or Firepro. However, $1500 is reasonably limiting including 2 monitors. Add and exchange components:
7950 for Evga 660 Ti
Change Case for the one you want.
Add PCI Rosewill Wifi Card
Any monitors from Acer or Asus, 1080P and pick your size.
Crucial M4 128 GB SSD

Thanks for the reply. That build looks good. Wasnt expecting and AMD processor. I have been looking at Intel more lately.

Few questions. Newegg has an assortment of EVGA 660 Ti graphics cards. Other than 2GB and 3GB I have no idea the difference between them. I have been looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130816 because it has a solid rebate.

Also uncertain about the SSD. There are 5 options that I have no idea the difference. I have been looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442 just because of the price.

And for monitor, how does http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117 look? I doesnt need speakers (although I dont mind), but the price was the best for ones with similar spec and it has good reviews.

Everything else I have copied from your build.

Thanks again

Here is everything in PCPartPicker. $1425

$1575 shipped so it's a bit over. There's some rebates in there.

8320 + 8

No need for FX really. Could go with 970A UD3 with no ill effects.

The card you chose. Consider a dual fan model.

With your 500R and a rebate, you wind up with this excellent power supply for 60 bucks.

16GB with a promo. I'd like to see 2133 but its about $40 more.

Here's the SSD I would get. Even if I had to wait for the ETA.

Promo w/no shipping fee.

x2. Unless you want to save the $12ea on your 23" versions.

Thanks for those suggestion.

Right now, you can get $10 off windows 8, so I am going to get it and the cpu separate.

I really dont know the difference in motherboard. Can you explain, so I know if the other is worth the extra?

The card I will think about the 2 fan

The case and psu is a great combo. Better power supply for little additional cost over the other one I had after rebates.

Will I see a noticable difference with 16gb? What would be the bottleneck right now?

What are the differences in SSD? I must admit I dont know much about their specs.

I did not notice the promo. Didnt come up on pcpartspicker. Thanks

I do like the extra size for $25.

Thanks so much for your help. Im going to be ordering the components with rebates/promos ending soon. I think that will be case, psu, and HDD. I will try to settle on the rest of the parts next week. Thanks again

I would prefer the two monitors to organize windows better. Running CAD on one and my plans on the other for example. Im not ordering monitors just yet, so I will consider.

Mainly, FX is better at running SLI or Crossfire. Since 1 powerful enough is better, the 970A has all the other needed features.

25% editing/rendering and the budget is big enough for 16GB. Could start with 2x4 then add, but if you add another 2x4 your slots are full at 16gb.

Nothing wrong with the m4. You'd like it. GSkill's is also highly reliable but has faster specs. There's a few I'd pick over m4. I know from owning that GSkill's is very fast. $5 less too.

Not a bad idea to go ahead with case/ps/hdd.
