I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400. I recently downloaded PC Wizard 2007 and it says that my CPU is running at 1600Mhz. Isn't the E6400 supposed to be running at 2130Mhz? Can someone please chime in and help me out? Thanks a lot!

it can throttle itself......

you can disable it in your bios, but why?

it'll still perform just as well now, and wont use as much power

I am not too computer literate...So is it a bad thing that my CPU is only running at 1600MHz? would you do anything to change it or keep it how it is? Sorry if I'm getting annoying about this...

i would think that your processor would only use it maximum speed when only requested of it, as in doing multiprocesses at once.

It's Intel's SpeedStep. And if you dont like it, you can disable it in the BIOS.

Basically it lowered the speed and voltage of the processor, to use up less power and lower the temps. But when you need the speed, it raises itself back up.
