would have to know your DVD burner model to tell ya!! A 16X DVD disk will burn at any speed below 16X too!!

The ability to write at 16X is not limited by the DVD WRITER, but by the speed the system can transfer data from the HARD-DISK. Most IDE hard-disks
transfer a constant 5-10Mbs = 4 to 8 DVD speeds. BURST-RATES are higher.

To avoid DVD write errors set your DVD WRITTING PROGRAM to its safest level.

Yea, I always burn at half of my max CD and DVD burn speeds, less errors. Thats right, if the speed is set higher than your computer can handle, some burn programs will auto burn at a slower speed, then some will overload its buffer and lock up!

Well it sorta is :p You can have a fast harddrive but if your burner doesnt support that speed you're SOL :p (i do get what you're sying tho hehe)

Yeah I would check and see what your burner is and see if it can burn at that speed or it may say on the front what speed it is rated at.

Also note that the faster you burn (in conjunction with the media type and burner model) will contribute to more errors :)
