1700$ budget. Best monster computer possible?

You asked about pricieness. If you google search for p67 (1155 socket) motherboards and use the 'shopping' tab at the top, the range in prices looks to be ~180-320 dollars which is comparable to the 1366 boards. I've heard that the CPU's will also be comparable, although noone will really know until the chips are on sale. If nothing else, at least with Gigabyte, the boards look a heck of a lot better.

I've also heard rumor that the new release could drop the price of the 6 core 970 down significantly. Who knows... but the platform is set to drop on Jan 9, so that'd leave you plenty of time to see what happens and have your rig built by late Feb. It's basically 2 weeks, with 3 major holidays (yeah, I know aboot Boxing Day, 'eh :P) between now and then.

I gotta believe it'll be worth it to wait and see what will happen when Sandybridge drops.

Yeah, true. The price drop could happen which does makes sense to wait. I'll have to do that then (:
Which I don't mind. But if the boards are alot better, I think I just might go with the Sandybridge.

Quick little side note, why does everyone think Canadians say aboot D:

Neither did my TO friends until I started emulating them... and then they started hearing it everywhere they went, which cracked me up. And it isn't really 'aboot' it's more 'abouwt'. Ofcourse, Ohioans speak perfectly...:rolleyes:

And yeah, I'd be looking forward to building sometime next month, with $1700 (maybe a little more by then?) you're going to have a really nice rig to game and work on. I love my Sig Rig and I think if I built it today, I could put it together for maybe $1200 or less with a 950 in place of the 930. With $1700 you should end up with something really sweet.

Everyone says that. :D

Can your rig play games like crysis quite easily?
And say, one last question, what case should I get? The nzxt phantom or the coolmaster hav-x. ( I made a new thread about it if your wondering)
 
I haven't played Crysis, but Metro is just as tough, I hear, and it doesn't give me any trouble. I do well with FSX on pretty high settings as well. BFBC2 looks just stupid-good. That's with a 5870 at 1900 x 1200. A 570 or 6970 will outperform me, as will the 950 or 2600k as I'm not OC'd with my Card or my CPU.

Canada Computers looks like they have some really good Boxing Day sales. I'm sure I'll float in there once I've moved. I can see some of their prices beating Newegg.ca

As for a case, I'm in love with the Silverstone FT01 Black w/ Window. Better Pics.

Also, I'm hearing $319 for the 2600k Sandybridge CPU on Jan 6. Or you can just bid on one at Ebay. (I wouldn't bid on the Ebay one though, even though the guy is from Ontario)

I'll say this, when new unfamiliar and overhyped stuff comes out the old tried and true stuff goes down in price and becomes very affordable. Question you got to ask is what are your needs? Either way i'd wait till the new tech comes out before deciding on anything.
