what is a divider? My G.Skill works perfectly fine, you can overclock with it perfectly fine as well. you just need to set a divider and have it run under DDR450.
But if you get XMS then you can have it run at or over DDR500 speeds.
it lets you run the memory lower then what it was designed for. Say i have DDR400 memory (200Mhz), i set the divider to 166Mhz, i overclock my cpu to 2.2Ghz (A64 3200+), it automatically overclocks the FSB, so then im back at having memory that runs at DDR400 speed.iggy101 said:I probably dont wan't to go OVER $100. i dont think i will be overclocking. if i do very moderatley.
what is a divider?
maybe it was 2.4Ghz... i remember it was either 2.2Ghz or 2.4Ghz that i was able to get my memory to run at DDR400.fade2green514 said:actually if you changed the divider to 166mhz you would need an fsb of 240mhz in order to get it to run at ddr400. (not 220mhz like it would take to get the 3200+ to 2.2ghz)
no, trust me. it was 2.4ghz. think about it: (166/200)*240. its simple arithmetic.[-0MEGA-] said:maybe it was 2.4Ghz... i remember it was either 2.2Ghz or 2.4Ghz that i was able to get my memory to run at DDR400.
