1st Build v2

OK, after trying to buy a dell xps 410 and then upgrade various components I've been told to just build the entire thing. Looking to stay around $2000, I'd be hesitant to spend much more, and I am definitely open to suggestions on lowering the cost. Don't need anything super top of the line, just want a good gaming computer that will last me for a while. Here's what I came up with.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

wait till the intel price cuts and by then the R600s will be out get e6700 at that time with X2900 XL from ATI/AMD

@firsttimebuilder:

Isn't proved that the R600s will overperform a 8800 yet so if i were you i wouldn't talk about beating the 8800 till it really occurs.

@jacksone:

The only problem i see in that build would be the case, way too cheap, i'll try to find a good one for a decent price

Go with the 8800GTS-640, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Also the price drop on the Intel chips will be peanuts in comparison to what you're spending on everything here so no need to wait on it. I wish I had gotten the E6600 over the E6400 but it's done now. If you're into gaming you might want to think about additional DVD-Roms. You can keep multiple games loaded in drives at once so you just have to click the disktop icon and it goes, no changing disks everytime before you load games.

Prob going to get this rather soon so I think I am pretty set on getting the 8800 GTS, sometimes just got to bite the bullet and get what's out there.

The case is definitely something I could use advice on, I just don't really know what to look for. I do know I don't want anything with major LEDs, just not really digging that. Heard of Coolermaster, and it was cheap, so I went for that. Other suggestions are welcome.

try Antec... some of the people here are using that and from the recommendation that I got, it kinda plain looking... one example:

or this if that is too expensive

hope that helps:)
others might have a better recommendation...

Don't forget Lian-Li, they have some pretty nice cases too.

Here's one more expensive.

And here's one for less.

Thanks for the input on the cases, I like the look of that second Antec w/out the PSU (and the price), prob go with that. What are the differences between the cases suggested and the Coolermaster I had picked out? CM just doesn't make a quality product?
