1st build

where do i start? i dont have the cash at this moment in time but i can start to buy bits and pieces.i dont know anything about sizes and such but is there a way that i can fins this out.

it has to perform amazingly and i'll be doing the who core duo thing aswell. any help and pointers would be great. if you got any questions just ask. :D
 
Well i cant offer much help cause im in the process of my first build as well. Im starting with the case but it's taken me a few weeks to find the perfect one!! and just when u think u have it, you see something else that you like. So yeah, the case seem's to be the obvious choice to start with.
 
i disagree.

start with your cpu. you say a c2d? find this and then a mobo. from this you can look at other compatable parts such as ram, gpu and a sata/ide hard drive(s).

i usualy choose my case last, on the basis of what budget is left.

Im doing mine slowly over time. So Im picking out the things first that are less likely to go out of date in a hurry. Otherwise I could end up paying top dollar for a current mobo when it could be 100 bux cheaper in 3 months time.... Just my thoughts.
 
thanks guys. i had the idea that i would start with the processor its just ive never built before and still really know nothing about computers and all the help i can get is great! thanks! and yeah its all going to be about the core2duo me thinks! its easy to buy a prebuilt system but i would really like to build!

so lowndsie youve only got the case so far? whats your rig going to be for? gaming? other?
