hi guys, 1st post on here. i feel soooo nOOb, lol. anyway, i just got a new case, and i was thinking of cutting a fan hole . i've always done lights and stuff, but i wanna try something new.

i got a lian-li pc65b with the side window. there's no fan hole in the plexi, so i figured i'd put a 120mm in there. i got a dremel stylus, think that'd cut it ok? i'm nervous about cutting a hole in such an expensive case. i may find a cheap case to practice on. any thoughts?

amd fx-57 cpu
asus a8v mobo
2gig (4x512) corsair ddr400 2-2-2-5
ati x800 xt p.e. agp
audigy 2zs platinum
(2) 120gig hdd - raid 0
(2) plextor 16x dvd
antex neopower 480w psu
dual monitor setup:
18" viewsonic lcd, 19" kds crt
5.1 surround sound

Haha, yes, take the parts out first. If you have any sheet metal laying around, i would practice cutting that first. Just make sure that you draw where you want to cut and make sure that is absolutly where you want to put the hole for that fan. Just make sure you think things through before you cut.

Welcome to CF. You should be able to cut it easily. Just cut the correct size whole and you should be fine. If you haven't done any cutting like that, you may want to practice, but I guess that's up to you. And as Motoxrdude said, draw where you want to cut first.

Please don't try to cut the case with the parts in it.

Umm, he can take the side of the case off....;)

the case has been sitting here empty for almost a week now. i researched online cutting the fan hole, just wanna see if you guys got any pointers i haven't already read, like using masking tape for a nice clean cut. that sort of thing. anything better than a dremel to cut a hole with?

thanks man, i love you too. seriosly though, i wanna ut the plexi, but i'm thinking of cutting the aluminum side panel on the other side. maybe stencil it or cut out a pattern. no big holes, just enough so i can attach a light under my mobo tray. it should make aninteresting light on the side of the computer everyone ignores.

There are sum pretty dumb people out there. i didnt say that you were dumb.

wow, i like that first link especially, as that was exactly what i was talking about, just not as extreme as that. i'll have to read in depth before i do anythig with this case. i'm getting some new ideas right now. thanks man.
