K, my specs are as follows:

Motherboard: MSI 870-G45
CPU: Athlon X3 455 unlocked to X4 B55 @ 3.3GHz
Cooler: Stock AMD
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 kit running @ 1333 MHz
Video: HIS Radeon HD 6790 1GB
Main drive: OCZ Vertex 3 60GB
Secondary: WD 500GB Blue
PSU: Corsair CX430 (430 watt)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Just want to make sure my temps are ok and if it seems like unlocking the 4th core is stable. I ran prime95 for just over 10 minutes and got a max temp reading of 71c. The core speeds stayed at the max the entire time, did not flucate at all. I've included a screen shot.

too hat, amd chips never need to pass 60 if you want it to last a while, i'd grab a cooler master hyper 212 plus for like 30, then you can keep the 4th core and put it at like 3.8ghz easy, probably higher but the voltage would damage the chip sorta like those temps

This is the first time I have ever run this test on this computer, but for the most part won't ever get it up to that temp under my normal use, but I will get that Cooler Master heatsink to help.

Has anyone had any luck with the Zalman CNPS9900 MAX cpu cooler? Just want to get the best one for the money!

If I were you, I would get a bigger ps,, today.

That? wayyy too much money, the hyper 212 is the best price/performance cooler out there, that thing wouldn't do a whole lot better, and costs over twice as much!

It is a great cooler but I will agree with jonny. If you are not looking to take the CPU to the extreme limits the 212 will work just fine for quite a bit less.

Also Benny Boy has a good point. 430w is a bit low for that system when you start overclocking.

Well I do have a 750 watt PSU sitting in my closet I guess I could put in there. What is a decent case you guys would recommend. I like the antec nine hundred, but looking for something different.

This is the site I use up here in Edmonton...

That depends on what kind of 750w you have. What brand is it?

Case is really personal preference. Toss up a few cases that you like the design of and we can help you find the right one for your setup.

You could also use newegg.ca

For case a upper end cooler master, anything past 50 bucks is when the quality is all good, most people like the haf series from them, and anything from corsair or nzxt or lian-li. Antec is alright, but i'm not the biggest fan for their looks.

It is a Corsair TX750M PSU. I could use newegg but then I'd have to get it shipped, where as I can just drive into the city to get it at Memoryexpress!

Yeah go ahead and swap the PSUs. It's overkill but it will deliver the power that your system needs.

Edit: nevermind. I just saw you last post.

Well from what you posted the Phantom is a really good case. Out of the ones that you picked out I would go for that.

Is the Corsair brand psu not that good?

Corsair is a great PSU company. I was just saying that for your current system you do not need 750w. But it is better than having a 430w in your system.

I was also thinking of perhaps upgrading my video card to one of these...

7850 OC 2GB or 7770 OC 1GB

I don't do a lot of heavy gaming. UT3, Command & Conquer, Red Alert, RCT3, etc....

Well are you unsatisfied with your current performance? How many FPS are you getting and what settings are you playing at?

Well I figured I would put a new card in my main system and put that card into one of my other systems.

And actually the only 2 games I've got installed right now are RISK thru steam and Angry Birds, but plan on installing some of my game here in the next couple of weeks.

a 7770 would be a downgrade actually, and the 7850 would be a good upgrade if you want better settings and have the money.

K, well after doing some looking around and reading it will be either the 7850 or this one from Asus, the 7950

Also would it be worth it to add another 8GB of ram for a total of 16GB.

Thank again for all your help and great info guys!

Either GPU would be a good choice. It really just depends on how much performance you want.

8gb is more than enough for gaming.
