hello all :)

im new @ cpu forum (im more of a member in the software forum ;) )
anyway... i have this computer with HT CPU, when booting the copmuter, in the black screen fase (where it shows u the display adapter and its memory size and then recognize all IDE connected to it)... well, at that fase it's showing like i have 2 CPU's, the 1st cpu detected is marked with an astrix b4 the cpu's details (*) and the 2nd is shown normal (no *, just the manufacturer and speed etc').
when disable the HT function in the BIOS i c only 1 cpu.

is that normal?
im asking this for i have a problem with that computer, from time to time (not all the time) it say that windows could not b loaded for .../system32/XXX.dll (or XXX.ntd) is missing or corrupte. but some times its ok and win do load and run ok. so i thought it could b this problem, and there i need your help huys :P

10x a lot and cheers

Its not like 2 CPUS but unfortunately BIOSes and such report it as two (possibly for marketing reasons) because of the Hyperthreading.

10x... problem solved :)

there r some MB (like asus p4s800s-mx) that when coputer boot shows 2 cpu's if ht is enabled.

thanks for your replay
cheers

Well, all motherboards that support CPUs with HT will display 2 CPUs during bootup if a HT proc is installed :)
