2 DVD-RW Drives or "DVD-RW and CD-RW/DVD Combo"?

What is better what having two optical drives in your system - 2 DVD/RW Drives or "DVD/RW and CD-RW/DVD Combo"?

I ask this because my PC originally came with a DVD/RW drive and a CD-RW/DVD Combo drive. Both of my drive trays eject stopped working and so Gateway sent me replacements. I gave them the part numbers ordered with my system but they sent 2 DVD/RW drives instead.

What I did here was see a sata dvd burner that reads/writes to all formats as well as an ide cd writer with the faster read time for cds and burning to cd-rs. Vista comes on dvd requiring a dvd drive in some form whether a player only, burner, or in a combo.

Installing programs from cds and burning video cds works out better with a cd burner on the other hand. A dvd burner handles all optical media as long as you see the plus above the minus sign at the end of dvd like "dvd-r, dvd+r, cd-r, rw, etc." there. Just about all dvd burners now cover the plus higher grade dvd.

Having 2 DVD burners is fine. Really better, they both will burn CDs anyway.
 
I keep a cd writer in here along with a dvd burner simply due to the faster read times for installing softwares off of a cd or running a few older games requiring the cd in the drive on occasion. For vcd projects or simply a data cd-r I'll use either while larger data dvds obviously require a dvd burner.

With two dvd burners you will automatically have a spare installed in case one fails. They sent the two dvd burners since those are now more or less standard items seen on the newer models out. Don't knock getting two and having a spare onhand.
