2 HD 5870 or 1 Newer card

So i noticed on high settings on my HD 5870 that i get a little lag so i was gonna buy another HD 5870 on ebay and crossfire them but the going rate is about $200 for used and $300 or $400 for new if you can find them. So now i'm at the point I don't know what to do, if I should get a second 5870 or get a new card. If a new card a ATI or GTX? Seems like allot are going to GTX. So I really don't know what to do. Any Ideas?
 
You say crossfire issues? These issues on newer cards or even the older ones like the HD 5870? Today my comp froze playing battlefield 3 and im not sure why hoping its not my Vid card :(

I dont imagine it is your card, iv been having a lot of crashes lately, i used to have about one a day, last night i had 3 in the space of an hour.

Maybe dice are doing some maintenance or something.
 
Seen a guy sell 2 ATI 6890 cards cheap for a GTX card. I'm thing there are issues with crossfire on the new ATI stuff
 
there are a ton of issues with every generation of card and on both sli and crossfire, games just don't do very well with using multiple gpus.
 
My SLI set up works just fine, but yeah, sell it and put the additional 300 bucks towards a GTX580.
 
never had a crossfire set up but i had no end of problems with my old dual gpu card...might have been because it was old though :P 3870x2.


some games took to it, some games had a bitch fit if i tried to play them :P
