hey, i was just wondering. i have a 1mb line in my house, but i also have a 3.6mb Vodafone satelite dongle. as i have to share my 1mb line with 3 other people would it be possible to use both connections at the same time and set programs to use different connections??

thanks

Hmm, not really, you would have to bond the two together and since there on different providers it just wouldnt work. The only thing to do would be too share the 3.6mb link with the other 3, and perhaps just use the 1mb for yourself.

how do you currently share your 1mb connection at the moment? with a router?

They do make devices which can split up the load between two connections, but if you're asking if you can connect both connections to your computer via ethernet and then have a 4.6Mbps connection, then no.

If the 1Mbps connection is being shared with three people, why don't you just use the 3.6Mbps connection?

ok, ill try to explain this.

i live in a student house, our landlord pays for a 1mb line to the house.

i personally own a 3.6mb vodafone dongle (but this is satelite and is therefore not always reliable).

my idea was for some programs to access the internet via the 1mb connection (i.e. downloads) and for other programs to access the vodafone dongle.

the only reason i would like to do it like this is that i dont want to have to use the vodafone dongle for everything as it is paid for by my dad and i dont want it to get too expensive, but at the same time i want to be able to have access to the 3.6mb line.

i do not want to merge these connections, i would like to keep them seperate.

What your suggesting is just not going to work. Not without additional hardware and a lot of configuring.
