2 Machines, Wires and Internet

do you have Ethernet? DSL? Comcast? some form of hi speed Internet? if no, then you have no luck in this area. If you do, however, put the modem to a phone line hook up and then the ethernet cable to the router. then connect the wires from the computer to the router. there are multiple attachments on the router for wire hook ups, just pick one. I f you want wireless, you must go to the wireless property's of the computer you want to go wireless, then find a wireless connection in there and once you find it, connect to it.

Well, You see its for a friend of mine, I'm assuming he has either DSL or high speed internet.

So, plug the router into the phone line and then each PC into the router, Nothing else?

Would it not work if you put a wire from the router into one computer and then a wire from one computer to the other?

Thanks for the help ADE :)

(p.s. Hows the Vista theme going? :P)

lol. theme is going good. and to go from one computer to the other, well, you need a special NIC for that. not sure if it will work though, never tried it. wouldn't advise it either. I think thats how some schools do it though... and also, what you said, yes, thats how, although, there will be a port on the modem for the phone line, and one for am Ethernet cable, do what i said for the phone line part, and the ethernet part goes to the router. then do what i said for that part.
