ok so a while back my operating system got corrupted, i took it into future shop and all they did was re-install windows without deleting the corrupted one, how do i delete it? it is taking up quite a bit of space and i only have a 120gb hard drive, when i first start up my computer it shows both os to choose from, if possible though i would lke to fix my other os system because it came with some restore futures compaq put in that i dont have on this os,

when i try to go to the corrupted os it says

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem"

"could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware",

btw i do not have a boot disc or a copy of windows xp

what is the other OS ?
or you can format the partition with the damage OS and boot into recovery console and use FIXBOOT and/or FIX MBR to remove the select screen.

the other operating system is the same, windows xp home edition, i would just rather have that one because it had some futures i liked on it that i dont have on this one, could you explain a little more on how to delete it? i think thats probably the way to go it seems like it would be too complicated to fix, how do i format the partition?

Make sure you have your Original XP cd at hand.

Right-click "My Computer"-->Manage
Now go to DISK MANAGEMENT.
Locate the XP HOME partition and "right-click"->DELETE PARTITION or FORMAT.

Now reboot,and boot from your XP CD, and when the setup starts go to RECOVERY CONSOLE.
from there you may be asked an admin password, provide it and type FIXMBR

(been a while since i tried this,so excuse my mistakes)
