i'm currently considering a computer that's configured with the following components:

Raidmax Sagitta case with 480W 12V P/S
ASUS A8R-MVP ATi Xpress 200 Crossfire mobo
Corsair ValueSelect 2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 DDR400
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 4200+
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250 Gb
2-NEC IDE/ATAPI ND-3550A 16X DVD+/-R/RW
EVGA GeForce 7800 GT 256MB PCI/X

my question is, should i get a brand-name p/s? or will this generic one work?
also can anyone recommend a cheapish monitor for this set-up?

thanks in advance for the help...

First off, I wouldn't get that motherboard. The nvidia nForce is a MUCH better chipset. As for the power supply, don't EVER go cheap with those. Definetly get a good one, and I don't mean a 10,000 watt one that comes with some case :P A really good one that pushes a good number of amps though the 12v line(2)

that motherboard was recommended by some people on the desktop board... i guess i really don't need the crossfire chipset, because i really don't think i'll need 2 gfx cards in the near future... as for the p/s that's what i thought...

any recommendations on a monitor though?

duh... i can't believe i forgot about it... another question... does anybody find it necessary to have 2 gfx cards? i mean i'm a casual gamer and i don't feel i'd need to run the games on max setting...

No, I don't see any real value to it.

As for the mobo, the Asus A8R-MVP really is a good board. I think Preator summed it up well when he said "Flagship performance for a far from flagship price".
