Hey guys, im buildin my pc, and i was just wondering:

the motherboard says it supports 20 or 24 pin (theres a little plastic cover that can be put over the last 4) and my power supply says the same --- the psu has 24 pins, 4 of which can be more or less broken off

will the mobo work will 20 or 24? is there an advantage to using 24 to 20? the motherboard manual says that it can work with either.

thanks, jut

If you have a powersupply that has 24 pins and your motherboard supports it then use the 24 pins even if the motherboard is comapitble with 20 it will run more stable with the 24 pins then 20 pins.

well, lets say ive got an athlon64 3200 and single pcie geforce6800 xt with 512 mb ram.... what kind of drop in performance would there be with a 20-pin psu?

my psu has 20 pins together and incase it is a 24 pin mobo i have 4 extra ones atached those are more practical so if u have 24 pins use them
