Ok guys Im having an issue with Access 2003. My girlfriend is taking an online class for Access and she has done everything in the book but for some reason when she sends the files to her teacher they cant be opened and Im not sure what else to try. When she tries to save it as an MDB file it will not let her, and her teacher is useless she has sent 4 emails asking for help and she has not responded yet. The program for the online class is called Blackboard

Have you / she tried saving it at a different file / folder location???

It is being saved at a Microsoft Access Page and when you open it all you get is an error. So I just changed it to an HTML File and that opens in Explorer but Im not sure if that is what her crazy teacher wants. I mean it opens fine in HTML format but not in MAP format.

On our network Access Databases are block if attempt to email... you will get the mail with the attachment but you won't be able to open it.
So why not just zip up the file in an archive and tell the teacher to "extract" when she gets it ?

Ok so I emailed the teacher asking for help and this is the response I received.

"Loren

All of your files have the extension .mdb.htm This could be the problem. You files should just have .mdb as the file extension."

So how do I fix this?

save it as a dirrent format .mdb is what it needs to be

Yeah good call Cohen.

Your girlfriend has saved the files in an HTML format, instead of the .mdb [microsoft database] format needed. You can choose what to save the file as when you intially save the file. It should be in a drop down box on the Save dialogue box within the Access application. The field you are looking for is called the Format field.

Also what i would recommend is archiving, using Winzip/WinRAR, all the files needed and then email them to the teacher. The teacher shouldnt have any problems extracting the files, if she/he is using an operating system greater then Windows 98, as XP and Vista both have a built in compression/decompression utility.
