2011 v 2011 v3

Thinking about a new build and looking at socket 2011 for advantage of ddr4 compatibility.

There seems to be a mish mash of parts for 2011 & 2011 v3, are these components inter compatible and if not is there any advantage of 2011 v3 over the older 2011 socket ?

x79 was for Sandy/ivy-E
x99 is for Haswell-E

Only the 2011-3/x99 boards will have DDR4.
