I was planning on getting a 24" monitor for gaming, computer use, and television (either through a tv-tuner on the computer, or a dvd player os cable box connected to the monitor). It will be used in my room mostly this year. Afterwards, I graduate and go to college and it would be used in my college dorm.
I wanted to know if the high resolution would be a problem? I have already heard its not a problem with playing video games, and the new generations of systems such as the x360 (which i already have) benefit greatly from the high resolution.
However, how would this monitor fair with while watching dvd's and television? Would watching tv from a computer's tv tuner look good on this monitor?

(either dell 2407fpw or samsung 244t. any other suggestions are welcome)

Normal TV would be fine, but it would actually be run at lower resulations ebcause thats what it is. If you buy the right equipment, your monitor has high enough reslautions to support HDTV which would look really nice.

Yes. It's resolution however, is higher than 1080. I was wondering if the resolution would be so high that television and dvd's would look bad on it?

When the TV and DVD's play they wont be on that high resluation. The resalution will be put down to the normal TV resalution.

But what about the native resolution of the monitor?
if you watch regular television on a native 1080p HDTV, the resolution doesnt simply magically go to 480i.

.. does it? (i'm pretty sure for most of them it stays int he native resolution and the higher resolution makes it look worse. depending ont he video chip)
