2900XT Crossfire contemplation and question..

I am thinking about making another rig with Crossfire Diamond 2900XT's, using a MSI K9A Platinum board with a X2 6000+ CPU. What have you other guys used for Crossfire? Anyway my main question and reason for this thread is to ask if the 2900XT requires both or either of these power ports? It is hard going to find a PSU with 4x PCI-e Power connectors or is it? I don't like using the adapters, rumor has it that some are defective.

Thanks

EDIT: Better yet, I am going with the MSI P35 Platinum and a Q6600

They do need both AFAIK. One useless thing to note, it can work with 2x6 pins connectors as well; the 8 pin can accommodate a 6 pin.

towards the extra molex cables q, i dunno. I didn't know they needed specific graphics card molex dongles, I thought they'd work with any free dongle. :/

Where did you get a 4-pin from? It uses the standard 6-pin PCI-E adapter as well as an 8-pin PCI-E adapter.

On Newegg there are a few PSU's that have 8-Pin PCI-E connectors, and even fewer that have two. The ones that do are $200+, but you may be able to buy an adapter to convert a molex to an 8-pin for the second card.

pc power cooling 750 and coolermaster 850 both i got for 100 each when on sale. they both have cable 6pin x 2 and 8 pin x 2 just gotta wait for sale.

Hey, kof2000, you're an SLI'er and Crossfirer, what do you think about an Antec Quattro 850W?

Thanks guys
