Would it be possible to run most games on a 2k display with 3 nvidia geforce gtx 960's ?

That's was pretty harsh man.
It would be a better idea to get two GTX 970s or one GTX 980 preferably
the gtx 960 only has 2gb vram. so, it wouldnt be the best for anything over 1080p. with 3 960's the gpu power would be there, but with 2gb vram, it would kill performance once its all used up. better to get a single 980, with 4gb vram and a power house of a gpu. i just bought the power color pcs+ r9 290x for $330. that would perfom great at anything over 1080p. im a nvidia fanboy for sure, but with the 970 being messed up with that last segment of 500mb vram, and the 960 being too weak and too low of vram, while the 980 is too expensive for me, so iwent with the r9 290x for my 1440p pleasure. newegg is currently selling a XFX r9 290x for $310. mihgt want to jump on that

I would agree 3x gtx 960s are a bit pointless. I'd get either a gtx 980 if you can afford or an r9 290x. The 980 is more powerful than the 290x but a tad more expensive. The r9 290x is also hotter and requires more power so get one with a good cooler like the sapphire.
A single 980 will do 60fps on anything 1080p possibly 1440p. I have 2 for 4k and they do 60fps on everything I play, bf4 skyrim etc they do 120-140fps.

is one gtx 980 enough for tomb raider at ultimate at 2k?
i now have a gtx 650 and with that i can handle ultra at 1080p.
