3.5" (IDE HDD) to 5.25" bay adapter

I've got a 60GB IDE HDD I want to add to my system but I currently use SATA2 for my HDD, and IDE for my DVD burner.. I have an open IDE slot, but it only reaches the 5.25" bay.. so I'm forced to either get a 5.25" bay adapter, or an SATA to IDE adapter.

Which should I do?

If it ends up that I get the bay adapter, should I get an internal, or an external?

I only shop on newegg an amazon at this time.
 
Why even get the adapter. I'd just use two screws and get it nice and tight on one side. that should be pretty secure unless you plan on moving your case around a good bit.

I move the case around alot.. however, my case uses the 'tool-less design'.. so it has these big green handles that lock the drives into place.

There are holes I can use to mount a 3.5" adapter to, but the holes don't line up for the HDD.

Another option is a USB 2.0 HDD case.. but I like to be as clutter free as possible, so I'm considering the other options first.
 
Ah... OK, then yeah, you probably do want to get the adaptor. Though having an external USB drive is nice too. I don't know how much you really need this drive, but having a mobile drive is very nice at times.
 
Is there such thing as an IDE extention cable?

I have 6 HDD bays.. it'd be nice to not have to adapt my only other 5.25" bay for a HDD haha

I think I'm going to order a 36" IDE cable.. the Master and Slave are 12" apart on it which is just about perfect for the space that they'll be apart, plus an extra inch to sit the cable comfy on each connection.. I'll order UV so that extra 24" of cable to the mobo doesn't look so bad haha
