3-D gaming

I basically know the answer to this question but I wanna know for sure... do I need a special monitor/video card for playing games in 3D?

If you mean the hologram 3d from nvidia.

The 3d shutter specs make the frames per second look half as smooth as one frame is for one eye and the next frame is for the other eye. The 3D specs block each eye really fast so you dont notice it. So you need a native 120hz screen to percieve 60fps otherwise it will look 30fps on 60hz screens.

Its more work for your graphics card rendering alternate views so performance will be a bit lower, the performance is down to your screens refresh rate.

Nvidia sell a 3d specs on their own but also 3d specs with 120hz moniter bundle. Only three games make use of it but nvidia claims other games can do it in a limited way.

3D will not work on Windows Xp so if your still on Xp get Windows 7 64bit.
