3-pin or 4

I am using a XP-120 heatsink with a Thermaltake TT 1202 on top to cool my CPU. The 1202 comes with a 3-pin connector and a 4 pin adapter along with it, and I was originally jsut gonig to use a standard 4 pin to run my fan. Now I realize that there is a 3-pin socket on my motherboard that says CPU fan. I assume that I can use this to power my CPU fan, (there are 5 other 3-pin sockets on my motherboard labled fan1 fan2 etc. I am planning on using them to power my case fans) but I jsut want to make sure before I fry my CPU because my fan wasn't getting adequate power from the 3-pin. So can my fan be powered by the 3 pin only?

Yes it can. Make sure you check how much load you can have on those fan connectors though, you don't want to overload them.
