i have a geforce 7600gt, amd athlon 64 3200+ and 1gb ddr pc5300. i play some games like far cry, CS, starcraft, unreal, etc. i bought a case a while back and got a 420w PU, but didn't install it because i had a much older computer. i recently upgraded to the listed equipment and the power connector that goes into the motherboard (the 4-prong one) is not correct. it's pins are backwards and it will not fit. i need to send it back and get a correct one, but in the meantime, will a 350w power supply work fine for the components i just mentioned? thanks.

For temporary use, you should be fine with most any 350W PSU, provided it has the necessary connectors.

Yeah that PSU will be fine for your system.
But I think just to be comfortable I would get a good 400W-450W PSU.

If you got that PSU wiv the case I would guess its aload of crap anyways.
Do you know what make/model it is?

i will look later. yes, it came with the case. i thought it was a POS anyway because it had VERY few connectors on it. to keep all of my fans running i had to hook up like one connector coming directly to the PSU and connect it to like 5 fans and then finally back into the HD. it seemed extremely inefficient to me.

If it's a quality 350W unit, you'll have no problems using it in the long term. If it's a crappy generic power supply, I wouldn't. What's the brand and amperage available on the +12V rails.

What's the brand and amperage on the +12V rails on that one. It's not necessarily better than the 350W.

the 420w is a raidmax. i just bought a brand new 430w (i forgot the brand) yesterday for $50. i think it will be wise to have a brand new one over a 350w one anyway.
