My friend wants a new processor which will be used EXCLUSIVLEY for gaming like BF2, COD 2, and CSS, and he's not sure which one. I said the dual core, but he wants more opinions. He has an X850XT PE and 2GB of OCZ RAM.

how could a;t=tab even be faster? Takes like .0001 second for me...even on games, you just have to have your setting's for proity's set right ;) and lots o ram helps too, But I would agree the 3800+ dual core would prabally be better

no need for the vote, you'll just happy come clicker pressing anything.

For me the 3800 is the way to go, whilst losing out (in the benchies) on single threads, modern games however are being developed or patched so as the utilse the dual core. Then you'll see the x2 pulling away.

im thinkin if the only program hes going to run is his one game, and maybe AIM, as i run it while playing games, then the 4000 + may be better because it does have a higher stock core speed than a single core of the dual core processor, and i bet the 4000 is overcloackable as well so i vote for the 4000+

go dual core, its much better for a computer in general and he'll be set for all the new games that run on multi-threads.

yea i guess i didnt think about the way new games are going ot be disigned to utilize it , i suppose you guys are correct i didnt look at all aspects

Thanks guys for the sudden rush of replies lol :D I think he's gonne get a AMD X2 4200+ instead of 3800+
