3800+x2 vs 4200+x2

Supposedly if you are an overclocker, you can get the 3800+ to to 4200+ speeds easier. The 4200+ has 512mb cache. I am happy with my X2 4200. I think if you check newegg or other companies, you can see if the price difference is worth it to you.

the 3800+ and 4200+ are the same exact thing, except one has a higher multiplier. Generally speaking you will be able to overclock the 4200+ higher than the 3800+.

And its 512KB ;)

Exactly why I got the 4200+ over the 3800+

4200+ overclocks better + so what? you can get the 3800+ to 4200+ speeds? cool, you can still get the 4200+ to better speeds...

LOL i was just waiting for you to come in here and say that. I know that always pisses you off.

You can always OC a CPU... but you can't get extra cache... :)

Just buy a really good CPU cooler or water cooling and OC that thing to hell! :D

actually they're the same chip. one has a higher default multiplier, and they both overclock equally.
got my X2 3800+ faster than a 4800+ :)

:) :) :)
xcept the 4800+ has a bigger cache, so it really isn't as good as a 4800+...
and w/e the 3800+ can overclock to, the 4200+ can always OC 200MHz more:P

actually, mine is better than the 4800+. cache doesnt matter as much as frequency. also, id like to see where this 4200+ at 2.74ghz is??? lol NOT gonna happen!
as i said, same chip, different multiplier. if you know how to overclock (that is, the cpu while keeping the rest of the system stable by using lower hypertransport multipliers + memory dividers) then you can easily get the X2 3800+ at the same overclock as the 4200+

note: my processor beats the 4800+ :P

funny, you see my processor benched higher than a 4800+ and they didn't post back? lol :P
i plan on getting to 2.7-2.8ghz with some water cooling once i get the money :) (correction i have the money, getting my father to let me is another thing)
