Hi,

I just bought the FX5550 from Newegg for my spare computer. Anyway, i plugged it into one of the PCI slots, i plugged in the monitor cable and everything started to work fine. Until.... Windows XP loader came up. it would go through a couple of the bars and then just suddenly freeze. I went to go plug the monitor plug back into the integrated video card, and all seemed fine. Could anyone tell me whats wrong with my vid card?
Thank you.

Usually it should do that automatically...

What I would try is booting into Safemode, disabling the onboard video and installing the correct drivers for the new card.

Like PohTayToes said its probable because the old video card drivers were installed, if you can get into safe mode uninstall the old drivers and disable the onboard if that was what you were using.

so i should plug my monitor cable into the integrated, and then after i uninstall it i should plug in the gfx card in. Or first go into safemode and then uninstall the integrated with the GFX installed?

I would just leave your new card in at first and see if it will boot into safe mode and uninstall the built in video driver and reboot, if it boots install the new drivers
