Hi,

I will show you my result from stock to overlcocking score with the setting at default presets "performance". But before I will tell you my system spec and ask more if you want

intel core 2 quad Q8200
6gb ram ddr2 800mhz
radeon 4890 stock clock for mine so 850/975 (I didnt overclocked it in any of these 3 test)

ok now I start...

1. 3dmark P9783
GPU 10114
CPU 8909
Q8200 stock 2,33ghz

2. 3dmark P10219
GPU 10346
CPU 9856
Q8200 oc 2,80ghz
gb ram I let it at 800mhz

3. 3dmark P10546
GPU 10533
CPU 10583
Q8200 oc 3,01ghz
gb ram at 920mhz

ok so now you know my score. I am asking if all of these score are normal with the overclock, and I will test later this day or tomorrow GPU test with stock and overclocking and post the result. You can ask me for more spec of my system I will answer if that can help to determine if is normal or not the score.

Thank you for your help!

Seems about right for those specs. The Q8200 is the weakest quad intel has, but it's still decent when overclocked. I would have expected more increase from the overclock, but vantage is more GPU focused than CPU....kinda the opposite of 06'. Consequently, overclocking your GPU should help a lot. You may hit 12k at 3ghz if you can get your GPU to 1000/1200 clocks.

I dont think hitting the 12k maybe max 11k because my radeon 4890 when I oc, I always test after the oc approximatly 1hour in crysis if I see no artifact for me my oc is well good and the max I can hit is 925/1050 without artifact in crysis

when I oc I also test directly after the thing on the ati overdrive to test if is stable, I can do easily 950/1100 without problem and ati will accept it is just in crysis after couple minute artifact gonna appear but in other game no artifact at all is weird but is like that. I will do 850/975(stock), 925/1050, 950/1100 and maybe if ati said that is ok(stable) I will do 975/1150 but am not sure aobut the last one. I will post later this day or tommorow because am busy, I added a new fan from a hockey table game and is awsome lol! Is loud but the good things is that is powerfull and I can switch it off and on when i want also if the pc is on or off to!

Do you leave your fan control on Auto? I always set my fan speed manually, especially if benching to get better overclocks. The Core speed will make more difference than memory. So I would take the fan to like 80%, and try running vantage at 975/1100.

no the fan is not a pc fan is from a hockey table game, no worry with the fan is normal, but with the grpahic card I always let the fan to automatic I gonna try that later thanx for the tip man!

Yeah I'm just talking the factory fan on the card, turn it to 80%. It may be loud, just warning ya, but bare through it just for the benching.

I did the GPU overclock but I cant 975/1100 because the ati overdrive test wont accept it but pass nicely at 950/1100 and I putted the fan to only 50% and I saw no artifact at all in crysis and a good fps improvement by the way lol!. with the GPU fan speed the temperature just changed amazingly, from auto(25% idle to 37% in game) with a temperature of 59c idle and 77c(maximum) and average of 75c and now with just 50% fan speed is now 44c idle, and maximum of 65c and average of like 57c. with the clock set to 950/1100 I got 11596 over 10533 at stock 850/975!

Well thats not right, you should have atleast cracked 11k. Was your CPU at the same clockspeed? 3ghz?

BTW what drivers are you running? 10.2?

still the same clock speed so 3ghz and I hitted 11596 not only 11k, and yup driver 10.2 and graphic clock speed 950/1100

maybe is my Q8200 at 3ghz is still bottlenecked my radeon 4890 at 950/1100 is this possible? when I will get my new cpu fan(dont know which one yet) I will go up to 3,2ghz to 3,4ghz and see if my gpu score at the same clock speed 950/1100 go up

More like the other way around man....q8200 is the bottleneck.

Edit- err maybe thats what you meant...type english next time please.

yeah that what I think, maybe at 3,2or 3,4ghz the bottleneck will be gone I hope atleast at 3ghz is not so bottlenecked....

You probably need atleast a Q9400 at atleast 3.6ghz for the CPU not to be the bottleneck. A 4890 is a strong card.

wo man, I know that the radoen 4890 is powerfull but not like needed a 3,6ghz quad core procesor! to run it without any bottleneck...

Yeah right now it's the 3rd strongest ATI single GPU card. The 5870 and 5850 being 1 and 2 of course.
