3ghz ^_^

I finally got my Q6600 to 3ghz. Started over once I did that BIOS update to make sure everything would be fine still. Hopefully things will run cool enough to be able to stay at 3ghz on a regular basis.

It took me forever to get the 3.2GHz stable with my Q6700. I had to drop the multiplier all the way down to 8. You should be able to hit around 3.5-3.7GHz with your Q6600 though.

I'm hoping I can go a bit higher if I need to. Right now 3ghz should be plenty. Though I am a bit confused. Speedfan is going weird. Like at 2.9ghz it was well in the 50C's range, and when I bumped up my voltage slightly to get to 3ghz it's int he 40C's range. I downloaded core temp though, and that's only in the lower 50 range.

Are my temperatures not reading right, or are they just lower now for some reason?

EDIT: Scratch that. Prime95 moved into the 8k thread from the 1024k one and my temps increased to 57C, so I guess it's back to normal.

intel thermal sensor= you will really never know your real temps lol:D

Wtf. I had my voltage at 1.3 after vdroop and I can't stablize at 3ghz. I can be at FSB 1333, which is just below 3ghz. But if I go up to 1334 to be a tiny bit above it I crash. I even tried to go to 1.31 after vdroop.

Should I increase something else other than just the vcore?

Should I increase them? You need to be a bit specific since this is my first CPU I've OC'ed, and first thing I've OC'ed at all.

yea raise your ram timings, lower the ram multiplier..

my Q6600 hit its (stock voltage) ceiling at about 3ghz too. my motherboards voltage lanes aren't the best for a quad core i guess, so i would need a better motherboard to push it further and keep it stable. any time i try to overvolt it i get an error or the screen gets messed up.

basically, its an older board that doesnt support 45nm processors.. so it was made more for dual core.. but now people are all buying quad cores soooo...

hehe you core'ers - who says netburst is obsolete?

i got my 65nm P4 (Cedar Mill) to get to from the stock 3.6 to 7ghz with liquid cooling
