40-pin EIDE interface cable same as IDE?

Well i just relized that im a FRECKING IDOIT!
My mothboard supports sata, I looked on the box curois of dual-channle, because i didn;t remember, and right there in big letters "Serial ATA"
I was using my old IDE cables though, and my motherbord didn;t come with the other cables(how dumb) I assume most harddrives will come with the cable? or will i need to buy this cable seperate?

They do. I've never heard of a case in which they did not come with the cable. Make sure, though, that you have a SATA power connector on your PSU (unless of course the drive has a standard 4-pin molex connector).

but frys has a deal(they have it every week, prabally untill they run out haha, thats how it is with most things) for the same thing but 160GB and Western Digital brand, i just never bought it ebcuase it was SATA aand i thought i couldn't use it.
So kI just got it, and now i have a question, i just set- it up to run as secendary, my current drive is a 40GB 4200RPM 2MB buffer regular IDE drive.
How much of a difference in speed do you think i would get if i put windows and all m y games and everything on the new drive and that that as my main drive? and then uise my 40 for extra stuff and backup?

So im just starting over anyways, i'm making this post inbweet updates, this is about the 15th restart so far, and this goes SO FREAKING FAST compared to before.

I didn't think i would see such a diffference in start up loading windows and all that, I know some of it not loading instant messaging and stuff like that but that's just a few small programs, and when i installed windows last time rigth away it was never that fast.
and I dont know why people dont like SP2, just disable the new Windows Secuiry, and its fine, plus it makes windows fun smoother and start up faster(enough to notice from SP1 and SP2)
althought I have been doing this from 6:00 and its 9:28 and im not even half way done I think it was well worth it, can't want to see if it makes a differene in games for loading graphics or something.
I'm still just installing updates for windows geeze there are so many that you have to restart inbetween.
and I didn;t rememeber the installation taking soooo long. they should make it so you choose everything at the begging then you leave for a while and come back at least, instead of every 6 minites you have to choose a option or press "ok" to move on. retarted.
I hope i dont have video card driver problems like last time I installed it
Well time for another restart, i'll prabally post 1 message inbwteen for now on heehee.
UPDATE: woot! 10:46 and i finished installing windows, windows updates , nortan, nortan updates, and videocard/sound/other varous drivers.
Just for games now, which will prabally take me a few hours also, sonsidering i have almost every steam game install WoW and startcraft and all the other blizzard games, and thats just what I plan on going to night, that and cuztomizing windows and my desktop again.

most laptop hard drives run at 4200rpm, that why i thought that. altho, they are getting faster drives now
dont think i have seen many 3.5 or 5.25 inch hard drives that spun at that speed, altho i do have tons of old drives, and i have no idea how fast they spin.
