as of today i have always been able to access my routers settings by typing in the ip address then the password when it asks. now, i can get in to the setting but when i try and change something like a filter it asks for the password again and when i type it i get

401 Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access. Either you supplied the wrong credentials(e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

ORRR

everytime i type the password it pops up again asking me to enter it again. Anyone know a fix to this? i need to acess my router really bad so help.
PS i dont if this would affect it at all but i just installed firefox yestraday... im going to unnstall it and see if it fixes.

Access your router with all your browsers, sometimes a certain browser isn't supported and does iffy things.

No harm in trying to use IE again, but it shouldn't matter. I access my router all the time using Firefox.

If I were you, I'd simply reset the router back to the defaults. There's really not much else you can do without knowing the password, and that seems to be the problem.

are you sure your password is correct??? couldn't you or anyone else change it...
yes im pretty sure cause i can acess the settings in the first place, if i didnt know the password i wouldnt be able to get that far :/ i actually get the same problem from another computer in my house that i hooked up wirelessly to it. it never worked though, now the host computer doesnt either.

i set the defaults back and still the same problem, its not apassword problem. anything more advice. now that i rest the default i cant configure anything and cant use my server anymore :/

Have you tried to update the firmware lately? if so, did it by any chance fail?

That's the only reason I could think why you would be locked out even after resetting it to factory defaults - a failed firmware update.

no but i did downgrade the firmware just to see if it would fix it and still nothing

SUCCESS!!! i have finally fixed it, i dont know really how but i did. i tried accessing the setting from a client computer rather than the host and i still got the message but not all the time lol sometimes it poped up others it didnt so i managed to change the password to nothin and now it works from both computers =D.
