my computer is going really slow.
thought it might be the hard drive.
i know its old but i was wondering if that model a reputation.

Yeah... Old drive, bad brand. You could run a test on it with something like Seatools and see if it passes, but it would not hurt to replace it.

If I'm reading that correctly, you have 512 MB of RAM at 132 MHz. That would be my main suspect. The next time you boot up that computer, pull up the Task Manager, and tell what your Page File Usage History is under the "Performance" tab.

The system in question is a bit old, but getting another gig of RAM would probably breathe new life into that system. I work on these old Dell, and HP systems frequently, and frequently that will be the issue.
