4850 an DX10

will a 4850 play all games in DX10 highest settings @1440 x 900?

Depends what you mean by "play". If you mean will it launch the game, then yes. However if you mean will it play all DX10 games at acceptable framerates on highest settings, then no. There aren't many systems that can play Crysis on highest settings very well.

With Crysis being the Exception, Yes i think it can

Not every game uses DX10. But there are some games that may run choppy besides Crysis.

Ok i don't know how much improvement this card will be precisely but my 3870 @ 855 - 2100 i ran a crysis benchmark with all setting on very high an my res was at the max my 19'' monitor can do 1440 x 900 an i average of 21 FPS. so the 4850 i'm guessing will hit around 33 but i dont think that is playable, Is it?

think again. it can't run FSX at full settings either, from the benchmarks i've seen.

33 is still very playable.

Could you do another 3870 in Crossfire? That would be cheaper.

I found a 4850 review that has Crysis playing at 1440x900. Not many reviewers use that resolution so this might be useful. It compares the 4850 to many other cards, including NVidia cards.
